Celebrate Pokemon Day With Party Hat Pikachu And More
Get ready to party, trainers, as February 27 is Pokemon Day. This day commemorates when Pokemon first launched in Japan back in 1996, and you can celebrate it in a number of different ways. Probably the most festive way to mark the occasion is in Pokemon Go, where any Pikachu you manage to catch between February 26 and March 6 will be wearing a party hat. The electric mouse will keep that look permanently, so it could be a cool thing to collect while you can.
If you're more interested in a physical collectible, then you might be happy to hear that Pokemon Day will mark the debut of new Pokemon Gallery Figures at the Pokemon Center. Available at launch will be four figures — Eevee using Swift, Mew using Psychic, Pikachu using Thunderbolt, and Magikarp using Splash. I would actually be down with owning the last two, because they both look pretty cool. You'll also be able to stream some of the old Pokemon animated films for a limited time over on Pokemon TV.
There's a Pikachu Yellow Edition New 3DS going on sale just a few days before the big event as well. If you're into the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online then you'll want to be sure and check in the whole week leading up to Pokemon Day, as well as the day of when there will be a special daily bonus. Finally, if you just want to sit back and watch others do all the work, then you can head over to Twitch.tv/Pokemon for a full day of celebration.
