Check Out The Pebble Watch Face Inspired By Resident Evil 7
One developer took it upon himself to create and share a Pebble watch face inspired by Ethan's signature wearable.
Fiction and technology work in a delightful cycle: fiction often inspires the creation of technology, which is then extended and/or reshaped into new and fantastic ideas. Such is the case with this latest watch face made for a Pebble smartwatch: the Pebble itself, specifically the unreleased Time 2 model, is featured within Resident Evil 7, and its appearance within the game inspired a developer named Elijah Kang to create the Resident Evil 7 version of the Pebble watch face for actual Pebble devices.
Sharing his work on reddit, Kang explained that he'd seen the Pebble Time 2 within Resident Evil 7 and took it upon himself to put together a faithful recreation of the device's display. Even better, he's sharing his project, titled Codex, with anyone who might want to use it, albeit with the understanding that it will only work on a Pebble Classic, Pebble Time, or Pebble 2. As for the program's actual functionality, Kang had this to say:
"The line graph generates your weekly steps, hourly steps or randomized values. On colored displays, the colors change based on your battery life (0-20% red, 30-50% yellow, 60-100% green). You can set the speed of the graph and the frequency it animates within the settings page. The bar graph on the bottom are purely eye candy and don't do anything."
It might not be a fully-functioning heart rate monitor, but that doesn't really matter considering the huge amounts of envy this watch face will strike into any nearby Resident Evil 7 players. Any of the game's fans who happen to still own a Pebble device owe it to themselves to check out Kang's Codex over on the Pebble website.
