Wizards Of The Coast Reveal New App For Managing Dungeons & Dragons Campaigns
The new platform, called D&D Beyond, will be landing on electronic devices this Summer.
What would Dungeons & Dragons be without tomes stuffed with rules and piles of sheets overflowing with detailed character stats? Better, some might say. Perhaps that's why Wizards of the Coast have announced their new "Digital Toolset" called D&D Beyond, a Fifth Edition companion app that aims to help players better manage their games and characters.
First revealed today over at PAX East, D&D Beyond works as an extensive digital reference for Fifth Edition rules in addition to offering a character builder and character sheet manager. The app comes as a result of a partnership with Curse, a company owned by Twitch that builds similar gaming management tools for a variety of different platforms. Though D&D Beyond isn't the first digital reference designed specifically for Dungeons & Dragons players, its mobile-centric design and official endorsement stand to make it the most popular and accessible of any such offering.
Aside from a Summer release window, there's no firm launch date announced for D&D Beyond, but players keen to jump in on the action and do their part to aid in development can join the platform's beta test by heading over to the D&D Beyond website.
