Candy Crush Developer Working On Call Of Duty Mobile Game

King is currently hiring for a new mobile Call of Duty project. Match the bullets to win!

Have you been itching to play more Call of Duty, but just can't make the time to play on your PS4 or Xbox One? Sure, there are some CoD titles on handheld devices, and there are a couple of entries available on mobile storefronts too, but you want something new. You want your Modern/Advanced/Infinite/Prehistoric (one day, Activision...) Warfare in an updated form for your phone or tablet. Well the time is nigh, I say, as Candy Crush developer King is going to be creating a mobile Call of Duty title of their own.

Now you might be wondering just what the creator of such prestigious titles as Candy Crush Saga and Bubble Witch Saga have to offer the Call of Duty brand. Well, it's funny you should ask, because we don't know either. In fact, very little info on the game itself is available, as we only know about it thanks to a listing on King's website for career opportunities. “Call of Duty: A Career Opportunity of a Lifetime” is displayed on the page in CoD's signature font, and is unfortunately not the actual subtitle for the upcoming game.

The best we have to go off of is this bit, “Our challenge as a team is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile that will strive to transform the best console experience fans know and love, while also breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre.” Maybe they'll truly rise to the occasion and we'll get a Call of Duty mobile game worthy of the brand, or maybe we'll get a match-three with bullets instead of candy or gems. Only time will tell.

Of course, this project stems from Activision's acquisition of King about a year and a half ago, when they dropped a hefty $6 billion on the mobile developer. Really though, between King's success so far and the Call of Duty name itself, it's likely the combination of these brands will be enough to succeed in the mobile marketplace, regardless of what form the end product takes.
