SINoALICE Gets New Trailer, Finally Shows Gameplay
Yoko Taro's mobile venture gets a new trailer, and it's about as weird as you'd expect.
Back in February we learned about a strange, yet promising upcoming mobile game called SINoALICE. This is a new project out of Square Enix that's being helmed by the one and only Yoko Taro, or as I like to refer to him, the mad scientist of the video game industry. There wasn't a whole lot to go off of, even if you happened to understand Japanese. The promise of something new and strange from this brilliant mind was enough to pique curiosity, though. Now we finally have something to work with.
A new trailer has been released for SINoALICE, and this time we actually get a glimpse at the game itself and what it has to offer. It seems this will play somewhat like a classic JRPG, but with Yoko's brand of beautiful madness and, as you can probably tell from listening, the fantastic musical prowess of Keiichi Okabe, composer of Nier and Drakengard 3. The game will feature a cast of eccentric characters that each have their own stories, and even the weapons themselves will have stories to tell — a feature that fans of Nier and Drakengard will be familiar with. Indeed, “stories” seems to be a theme with this game, as it appears to revolve around the idea of learning these different stories and how they connect.
There's still no word on if it will ever receive an English release, but I sure hope it does. Yoko Taro is one of my favorite directors, and I found his most recent work, Nier: Automata, to be superb.
