I Am Setsuna's Switch-Exclusive DLC Launches April 13
The 'Temporal Battle Arena' will let you take on other players' parties this week.
A couple of years ago we learned about Tokyo RPG Factory, a new studio created over at Square Enix that planned to focus on creating games that harkened back to what many would deem the Golden Age of JRPGs. Its first project wasted no time getting to the point, taking inspiration from Chrono Trigger, a game that, while near-universally lauded, hasn't actually been taken on that much in terms of spiritual successors. I Am Setsuna then showed itself to the world last year, and while it may not quite live up to its prestigious lineage, it was an excellent throwback title.
Now it's out on the Nintendo Switch, and getting a bit of extra love in the form of some exclusive DLC. It's nothing story related however, instead it's something called the Temporal Battle Arena. The Arena is a place where players can upload their “battle data,” which seems to essentially be your party's stats and spritnite setups, and others may download that data — either specifically or randomly — and battle another's party with their own. Winning these battles will net you more spritnite for empowering your party further. You can check it out in action via the trailer above, but if you've not beaten the story yet I'd actually advise skipping that trailer, as it does show off a surprise party member from the end of the game.
This DLC is exclusive to the Switch, for now at least, and will be available for free on April 13. Do yourself a favor and play this if you haven't, for the phenomenal soundtrack and lovely art style, if nothing else.
