Hours upon hours of jewel busting goodness, made even sweeter, thanks to touch screen controls.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend, but that doesn't mean us guys don't appreciate sparkling gems, especially when it comes to Bejeweled 2. PopCap Games' super addictive puzzle game has captivated us for years, ruining our jobs as we slack off matching multicolored stones. Now the bedazzled fun comes to iPhone and it's even better, because now we can touch the expensive rocks with our fingers.
In case you were in a coma, or incarcerated, Bejeweled 2 is a puzzler that presents you with a screen filled with rubies and diamonds and challenges you to connect three or more of the same color, the goal to acquire more points and move onto the next stage. You must do this before running out of turns, otherwise it's game over. It's sparkly, lots of fun and destined to consume you. Get over it.
This iPhone version plays almost exactly like the numerous other editions, except with touch screen controls. Instead of clicking a mouse, you simply slide the gems with your finger and it works brilliantly. Not once did Bejeweled 2 fail to read our actions.
In addition, the game looks wonderful stretched across the phone's wide, high-resolution screen. Jewels sparkle and explode with dazzling brilliance, while the planetary backdrops put a cool sci-fi theme on the proceedings.
Our only complaint, however minor, is the $9.99 price. It seems a bit high for a puzzle game that debuted in 2004. Then again, considering the prices of Virtual Console games on Wii, as well as the $39.99 Square Enix charges for its DS role-playing games (all of which released over a decade ago), ten bucks isn't bad for one of the greatest puzzle games of all time. Now bring on Peggle!
What's Hot: Touching is super awesome, snazzy special effects and addictive gameplay.
What's Not: Costs $9.99.
