Pokemon Go: Legendary Pokemon And PvP Arriving This Summer
According to a new interview, Pokemon Go's most fan-requested features will be arriving soon.
Pokemon Go players have been ruminating on new features for months, and given that series fans hadn't heard a single peep from developer Niantic on the arrival of features like Legendary Pokemon or player-versus-player battling, all there was to do was speculate. Many believe that a complete gym overhaul is on the way — and that may still be the case — but a recent interview between Niantic's Mathieu de Fayet and Brazilian publication O Globo has revealed that Legendary Pokemon will be coming to Pokemon Go this summer.
When asked about how Niantic plans to keep up with a 65 million-player audience, de Fayet made a very simple statement of what the company had planned for this summer. The original interview was noticed by Reddit user Constyy over on the Silph Road subreddit and later translated by user Hisucchi; here's the translated response to the question:
"Due to the large success of the game, we had to delay some planned innovations. Right now we are working on some that are due to hit this summer, such as giving more value to the choice of teams, releasing Legendary Pokemon and introducing [battles between players]."
Due to translation issues, there's a small amount of confusion as to whether de Fayet was referencing direct PvP, or if the more common phrase "battle between players" may simply mean Gym battles between players. Until Niantic decides to confirm the details, we won't know for sure, but it's very likely that the phrase was made in regard to direct PvP battling.
There's no word yet on when this latest Pokemon Go update is set to launch, but with summer rapidly approaching, players won't have to wait very long before they start seeing their first Legendary Pokemon.
