Monster Hunter XX Demo Out Now On Nintendo Switch eShop
Though exclusive to Japan, North American players can still get a taste for the series' latest iteration.
Anyone who might be interested in Monster Hunter XX, the latest installment of one of Japan's most-loved RPG series, will now be able to check out a demo of the game that's been made available through the Nintendo Switch eShop as of today.
If Monster Hunter XX looks familiar to series fans, that's because it's a remake of sorts, serving as an expanded-upon re-release of Monster Hunter Generations, a game that originally appeared on the Nintendo 3DS back in November of 2015. The new version of the title is set to include loads of new content like additional monsters and quests as well as other content that has yet to be revealed.
Though the Monster Hunter XX demo is currently exclusive to Japan, players in other locales can easily check out the demo thanks to the Switch's region-free design. For now, it appears that players outside of Japan won't get to properly enjoy Monster Hunter XX, as developer Capcom has indicated that they have no plans to bring the game to other regions. Fortunately, due to the Switch's aforementioned region-free nature, players in other regions will be able to purchase and play the game in Japanese, assuming Capcom and Nintendo bring a version of it to the Japanese eShop.
Beyond that, Monster Hunter fans can still get amped up about Monster Hunter: World, a new game in the series that's set to release globally for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2018. Fans will also be treated to Monster Hunter Stories, a new turn-based entry to the series that will release for the Nintendo 3DS this coming September.
