Super Meat Boy Forever Gets New Switch Trailer
The sequel to Team Meat's iconic platformer made a big showing at this month's Nindies Showcase.
Originally released in 2010, Super Meat Boy is one of the finest platformer games to release for any modern console. The game is slated to come to the Nintendo Switch, although we don't quite yet know when, and in a move that might be considered unusual, the development crew at Team Meat have used Nintendo's recent Nindies Showcase to go ahead and present the game's sequel. Called Super Meat Boy Forever, the game will bring the series' familiar jumping, sliding, and meat-grinding action to the Nintendo Switch in 2018.
From what can be seen in the new trailer, featured below, Super Meat Boy Forever has mainly kept to the winning formula that made the original Super Meat Boy so addictive. This time around, though, Meat Boy himself has a couple of new movies, the game has daily new challenges, and there's an all-new character in the form of little baby Nugget, who fills in Bandage Girl's role as the victim of kidnapping by Dr. Fetus.
Even though Super Meat Boy Forever does cling to the same formula that made its predecessor such a success, the simple addition of moves like punching and sliding should help mix up the formula enough to keep platforming enthusiasts happy for some time. And, to appeal to all of the game's hardcore fans, there's a new system in play that promises to make levels more challenging each time they're beaten. We don't yet know how that system may work, but considering that challenge and replayability are chief among Super Meat Boy's appealing qualities, there's little doubt that Super Meat Boy Forever will become an instant fan favorite.
Though they won't be nearly as punishing as Super Meat Boy Forever looks to be, players can check out several other top-tier Switch titles on our list of the Best Nintendo Switch Games.
