Sure, Ghost Pop is free, but so is smog filled air.
Ghost Pop is a Halloween-themed and free iPhone app that challenges you to poke ghosts with your finger to make them disappear. Although we love the price, shoddy touch screen controls make it seem like a cruel trick instead of a treat.
Much like Plasma, which we highly recommend, the game challenges you to eliminate objects from the screen (in this case, ghosts) and score points by poking them. You must also do this before time expires. Succeed, and you move onto a progressively harder stage with even more ghosts; they also move faster. To compliment the action, developer Jirbo even throws in some sweet looking backgrounds of pumpkins, bats and creepy houses to get you in the spirit, so to speak.
We'd give Ghost Pop high marks if the touch screen worked. For whatever reason, those ghosts are at times difficult to pop. Has little to do with speed. They just don't always disappear when touched. Lame.
There's also a significant lack of music and sound effects. You'll hear the ghosts popping (that gets annoying quick) and a creepy laugh whenever you lose, but that's about it as far as audio.
Despite its flaws, however, Ghost Pop is free and worth a few plays. That said, cough up .99 and purchase the superior Plasma. It's much better.
What's Hot: Spooky looking backgrounds, you can resize the ghosts to make the game easier.
What's Not: Weak sound effects, inaccurate touch screen controls. Ghosts resemble Boo from Super Mario Bros. 3. Nintendo lawsuit?
