Buena Vista Brings Additional Movies to UMD
Eight more titles planned for release on Sony's handheld...
Continuing a list of already announced titles, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has revealed release dates for 8 additional movies to see conversion onto UMD format; currently an exclusive medium to Sony's PSP handheld system.
King Arthur: Extended Unrated Director's Cut, Hostage, Cursed, and Tron will all receive the UMD treatment and become available at retailers on June 21.
Kill Bill: Vol. 2, Armageddon, Gone in 60 Seconds Unrated Director's Cut, and From Dusk Till Dawn are set to release a month later on July 19 in UMD format.
Daniel Silverberg, New Business Development Executive Director of Buena Vista, mentioned that the majority of the earlier UMD releases will be those of director's cuts/unrated versions, and that an eventual price drop of the PSP hardware by the end of the year would allow the company to shift its focus on more of a younger audience with the release of animated titles.
Silverberg went on to say that The Incredibles may see a release onto UMD format in time for Christmas.
Buena Vista now has a total of 13 titles planned for release on UMD format throughout the year. The company hopes to release about 4 movies for Sony's PSP each month.
