Moto X Mayhem
You're iPhone could use a little bit of Mayhem.
Sometimes, the simple iPhone games are the best ones. You don't have to worry about complicated controls, a difficult to navigate interface or assorted glitches. Moto X Mayhem is one of these gems, a side scrolling racing game where you go from point A to point B across seven levels preventing your rider from crashing.
Controlling your bike is a cinch. You tap on the left side of the screen to apply your brakes, or press down on the right side of the screen to accelerate. You'll need to tilt your iPhone left and right to control the angle of your rider. This is very important, as he constantly catches big air. An imperfect landing will cause him to crash, ending his current run. You're timed on each stage, so you'll want to reach the goal in the fastest time possible, as your best times upload to an online leaderboard.
Moto X Mayhem has a bare-bones presentation. You won't find background music or sound effects to draw you in. However, the graphics look impressive. The rider animation is humorous, especially when he comes flying off the bike, arms and legs flailing about. The levels are equally well designed, with plenty of deep slopes and ramps to fly off of.
The best thing about Mayhem is its price. The game usually sells for two bucks, but now it's available for the very reasonable price of one dollar. You get seven levels jam-packed with opponent times to beat and lots of opportunities to cause wrecks. However, it needs more levels, something developer Occamy should resolve with a downloadable update.
Sure, Moto X Mayhem could've used more content, such as extra bikes and riders, background tunes and additional stages. As it stands, however, it's an above-average iPhone app with plenty of fuel to burn. Besides, it's not often you get a game that lets you dish out this much damage for such a low price.
What's Hot: Fun to play, dirt cheap, hilarious crash animations, online leaderboards.
What's Not: Only seven levels, no background music, you don't earn extra points for stunts.
