Scene It? Movies

Showcase your trivia skills in Scene It?, now available for iPhone.

We're huge Scene It? fans, so the announcement that Screenlife had released a version for iPhone had us racing to the App Store. Thankfully, Scene It? Movies doesn't disappoint, with hundreds of questions, high quality movie clips and even a simple yet addictive multiplayer mode. And the best part? It's less than a buck. That makes it irresistible.

Like most Scene It? games, this one throws a series of trivia questions your way, presented as enjoyable mini games. In one, you'll watch a brief movie clip (like Forest Gump or The 40 Year Old Virgin) and answer questions about that particular scene or the actors involved. In another, the game's designers ask you to put movies in order of release, while another shoves hundreds of movie tickets onto the screen, then asks you to find one bearing a specific title. These, of course, are but a small sample of the types of games you'll enjoy.

Since it's on the iPhone, you'll play Scene It? using the touch screen. The touch recognition works just fine, so you should have no trouble making selections within the time limits. The aforementioned movie ticket game, however, is a little awkward, since the tickets are so small.

In addition, you'll also have to avoid impulse buys. Screenlife linked all of the movies to iTunes/Amazon, and will often ask if you'd like to purchase a certain movie after answering a question about it. While a small annoyance, this doesn't ruin the game.

Multiplayer, on the other hand, might be a deal breaker. Unlike most Scene It? games, you can't create individual profiles for other players and compete against each other. Instead, there's a hot potato inspired mode called Movie Pass, where you answer a question and pass the iPhone to someone else. If they take too long, they get the boot and the game continues until there's one player left. Not exactly the deepest of modes (there are no individual point totals), but it'll do.

Bottom line, this game has a tremendous amount of value for its .99 introductory price. Questions repeat, but that's a small issue compared to all of the questions and mini games you'll receive. That said, waste no time in making Scene It? Movies the newest member of your iPhone game collection.

What's Hot: Tons of questions, high-quality movie clips, enjoyable mini-games, simple but fun multiplayer mode, good touch screen recognition.

What's Not: Question repeat, only one multiplayer mode, the game always asks if you want to purchase movies.
