Cleaning up the environment, one ball of sludge at a time.
We're in the mood for a quality platform game, and Chillingo's Blobster may scratch that itch. Divine Robot's upcoming title casts you as a blob that must explore a polluted world full of gunk, where the goal is to clean up the toxic sludge and defeat a greedy corporation. Yup, just another day in the life of a heroic mass of goo.
From what we've seen, the game's easy to play. To move the blob, you tilt the preferred device. As for jumping, place a finger on the blob, drag it down and then release to fling the creature around the world; the iPad version also features a virtual jump button.
Picking up orbs makes the blob grow, allowing you to use this newfound girth to affect objects. If you approach a body of water, for example, knocking over a wooden pillar creates a bridge.
In addition, the developers placed different items throughout the levels that grant different abilities, like swimming and flying, both of which let you discover new areas and collectibles.
Cleaning up pollution, meanwhile, is as simple as sliding into it. You'll just need to watch out for various hazards, especially when it comes to enemies. We made the mistake of jumping onto a creature with spikes covering its body. Bad idea.
That said, Blobster seems like a fun distraction. Look for it this April.
