Infinity Blade: Content Update #1 Review
Hey Marrow Fiend. Come out, come out, wherever you are.
Today marks the release of the first content update for Infinity Blade, the incredible action RPG from Chair Entertainment and Epic Games. Since we play it frequently and die at the hands of the God King, this download was essential. Thankfully, it mostly lives up to our high expectations, though its new monster seems a bit shy.
Said creature is the Marrow Fiend, an ugly beast that devours the flesh of its victims and then uses their bones to create weapons. We couldn't wait to give this guy the beating of his life, but after a few hours of play, we've yet to face him. The developers never said anything about having to reach a certain level or even beating the game for him to appear, so at the moment, it seems like the odds of catching a glimpse of the Fiend are slim to none, at least for now.
That aside, the update was well worth it. First, there's a bunch of new items to master, including five swords, five shields, five helmets (including the Santa Claus themed Holiday Helm) and one suit of armor.
In addition, the level cap was raised from 40 to 45, and you can listen to different music via your personal iTunes library, which is a nice touch; we prefer to fight evil while jamming to Beyonce's Single Ladies.
One of the biggest new features, though, is the ability to purchase gold using real currency. Even better, the prices won't break the bank. You can grab $25,000 for just $0.99, $150,000 for $4.99, $750,000 at $19.99 and then $2,500,000 for $49.99, if you have the cash to burn. Since you can do a ton of damage with just $50,000, this is a great deal.
Of course, the best thing about Content Update #1 is Chair's decision to release it free of charge, meaning there's no reason why you should avoid downloading it. Now if only we could make the Marrow Fiend's acquaintance.
