Final Fantasy III Makes App Store Debut March 24
Square Enix will release an updated version of the DS hit tomorrow, but will you pay for it?
In 2006, Square Enix released a wonderful remake of Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS, complete with 3-D graphics, enhanced audio and full-motion video cut scenes. Now, that same game is on its way to the App Store.
Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy III will make its iPhone debut tomorrow, March 24. From what we can tell, the game looks noticeably sharper than its DS counterpart, but still retains the epic story and classic gameplay.
We missed out on playing the previous version, and planned to download the game later this evening, at least until we saw the price. Barring some unforeseen change, FFIII will retail for a whopping $15.99.
OK, so that's pocket change by retail standards, but it's quite expensive for the iPhone, especially considering that most games cost $0.99-$5.99. At that price, $15.99 feels like the equivalent of $59.99.
That aside, the publisher released a new trailer of the game in action.
