Nintendo 3DS Friend Codes: Huge Improvement
Yes, Nintendo still forces you to enter a string of numbers to go online, but it's much easier.
Nintendo 3DS Friend Codes. The mere phrase makes gamers shudder, as the annoying codes have been the bane of Nintendo's online existence on both the Wii and DS. Thankfully, we were pleased to see a simpler way to exchange friend codes with other players.
Now, instead of having a unique friend code for every game, the 3DS ties one friend code to each system. For anyone who struggled with unique friend codes on older systems, this is huge.
All you have to do is click the Friend List icon at the top of the Nintendo 3DS Home Menu, and you will see your own player card and the ability to get other player cards, either automatically if you're next to your friend, or manually by entering the unique digits. You can even see if your friends are online and what games they're playing, as well as their favorite game.
This is great news for gamers who have been waiting for Nintendo to make online connectivity a lot simpler. We can't wait to see games like Mario Kart 3DS and Super Mario take advantage of this in the future.
If and when you get your Nintendo 3DS, feel free to drop your code in our comments section below and grow your friends list today.
