Piclings Turns Photos Into Video Game Levels
Now this is what we call a great use of the iPhone and iPad 2 camera.
Plenty of video games let you create stuff, but only one allows you to take pictures and then use those photos as levels.
Piclings, from Fabrication Games, is a 2D action platformer with a unique twist. Powered by "Canny edge detection technology", the App transforms everyday photos into levels, complete with gold coins and enemies called Huffies and Puffies.
You simply take a photo with the iPhone or iPad 2 camera and the game does the rest. On top of that, you'll control Picazzo, a creature best described as a cross between a piece of fruit and a toad.
In addition, Piclings comes with a level editor, giving you a chance to enhance these works of art further with more platforms and other cool things.
We can't help but get excited about this title. Like many gamers, we've messed around with level editors, but the option to incorporate actual pictures goes way beyond previously released tech.
The publisher, PAN Vision, plans to release Piclings this May for $0.99. Expect a review soon after.
