Paper Mario 3DS: A Visual Feast
Nintendo's charming RPG is one of the system's most visually appealing games.
We have to admit, Nintendo brought a ton of quality games to this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. We drove a few laps in Mario Kart 3DS, busted ghosts in Luigi's Mansion 2 and blasted enemies in Star Fox 64 3D.
That said, Paper Mario was noticeably absent, but the publisher teased us with a batch of screens and a cute trailer that puts the unique graphics on display.
Most importantly, it gives us a great idea of how the developers plan to make use of the system's glasses free 3D. As you'll see, the game will have some cool special effects, from a book's pages flipping off the screen to a fan blowing goombas around.
This may sound crazy, considering the number of 3DS games on store shelves and the ones recently announced, but this is the first title that has us excited about 3D. Nintendo appears to have designed Mario's newest RPG to take advantage of the tech, instead of including it as an afterthought. Bravo.
That still doesn't make up for not bringing it to E3, but at this point, we'll take what we can get. Click here to view the screens, and be sure to watch the video.
