Super Pokemon Rumble Throws Down July 28
Wind up Nintendo's battle monsters and clean house in this (for now) Japan only release.
Well, it was only a matter of time before Nintendo released a full retail Pokemon game for 3DS.
Said game is Super Pokemon Rumble, an action heavy romp viewed from a top down perspective. In it, you drop wind up toys (based on Pokemon) into the world and beat the snot out of rival critters. Defeat Pokemon, and you'll add them to your collection of playable characters.
What's especially cool is the ability to swap Pokemon by accessing a menu, which should come in handy while fighting bosses, as each monster has unique abilities and attacks.
In addition, there's a battle royal mode where it's every Pokemon for itself, as well as wireless options. Two people can join forces in co-op play, and there's SpotPass support. Finally, other players' Pokemon and personal Miis will appear in your copy of the game. Why, however, remains to be seen.
While not the Pokemon experience we expected, Super Pokemon Rumble will hopefully be a welcome addition to the 3DS library when it hits Japan July 28. Expect a Western release soon after.
In the meantime, here's the official Japanese website.
