Super Mario 3D: Super Mario Bros. 3 Features We'd Love To See
Nintendo borrowed some elements from the smash hit NES adventure. We hope there's more.
In a way, Super Mario 3D feels like the spiritual successor to the beloved NES title, Super Mario Bros. 3. Not only does Mario don the old Tanooki suit, but he must also navigate his way through dangerous airships en route to boss battles with those nefarious Koopas.
Seeing this in action made us wonder how far Nintendo intends to go with this potential homage. Are these elements the only features pulled from the beloved 8-bit classic, or did the publisher take things a step further?
For now, fans can only wonder, so we took a fond look back at Super Mario Bros. 3 to create a wish list of things we'd most like to see.
Almost every Nintendo fan used one of these bad boys to warp to different worlds in SMB 3. We think the whistles would be a perfect fit in Mario's latest adventure.
Frog Suit, Hammer Suit
Why should Tanooki get all the love? Mario has some other iconic suits that Nintendo needs to pull out of the closet. The Frog Suit, aside from making he and Luigi look ridiculous, lets the brothers swim easier, while the Hammer Suit does exactly what the name implies: it lets them chuck hammers at enemies.
Big Island, AKA Giant Land
Without question one of the craziest worlds in SMB 3, where all or most of the enemies are huge. Nintendo revisited the concept of super sized bad guys in Super Mario Galaxy, but that's on Wii. Bring it to 3DS.
Mario gets mad hops once he jumps inside this green shoe, which also lets him safely land on spinies and piranha plants.
