Mario Party 3DS Wish List
Still no hope for a beer pong mini-game, but we can dream.
It's inevitable. At some point, Nintendo will release a new Mario Party for 3DS.
Please contain your enthusiasm.
There's no doubt that fans are split on the franchise. Some love the concept of playing a digital board game with friends, while other snub their noses at the shallow mini-games and the overall slow pace of play.
Suffice to say, if you crave fast and frenetic shooters and have a problem sitting still, Mario Party may not be the series for you.
That said, Nintendo has a great opportunity to attract newcomers with a game that not only introduces new concepts, but also takes full advantage of the 3DS' capabilities.
On that note, here's what we'd love to see in Mario Party 3DS.
We've had a blast using the 3DS tilt controls in both The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Face Raiders. Mario Party 3DS, meanwhile, seems like a perfect fit to use the tech in some of the mini-games.
Characters from other franchises
Nintendo calls the game Mario Party for a reason, but come on. The company should add heroes like Kirby, Samus and Link to the roster, along with a handful of Pokemon for good measure.
Franchise inspired mini-games
Taking the concept of new characters a step further, the company should also create mini-games based on other properties, such as the Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid and even WarioWare. More variety would do the series good.
Would be sweet to have network play in some fashion. Perhaps Nintendo could implement a slower paced mode, where players roll the dice at their leisure, along the same lines of Zynga's Words With Friends.
By harnessing the power of SpotPass, Nintendo could send new mini-games, characters and other items directly to 3DS systems.
