Design characters and bring them to life in this charming platform adventure.
Nintendo released Mario Paint on Super Nintendo almost 20 years ago, and we still don't have a sequel. 3DS would be an ideal fit, since players could draw on the touch screen and then display their creations in glasses free 3D.
Well, it appears Mario Paint 2 is still a pipedream, but for now, there's Picture Lives! (title subject to change), an upcoming and downloadable 3DS game that should give aspiring artists their drawing fix.
Part creation tool, part platform adventure, this title's user-friendly editor allows players to easily design different characters and objects through the touch screen, swapping colors, adding clothes, eyes, legs and a mouth, among other parts.
Once finished, users can bring their creations to life and explore a 2D world, interacting with other characters, flying, swimming, breaking rocks, eating food and jumping around via touch controls.
Explore long enough, and they'll discover magical items, power-ups and collect eggs to earn cash that goes towards purchasing new editing tools.
On top of that, gamers will eventually unlock the ability to alter the game world, changing white clouds purple with pink polka dots, for example.
In addition, the more pictures a person draws, the larger the game world becomes.
Finally, the game supports StreetPass, allowing players to wirelessly swap characters without opening their systems.
Picture Lives! probably won't stop us from bugging Nintendo for a new Mario Paint, but it definitely has a lot of potential. Expect to hear more about this promising title in the months ahead.
