Julius Styles: The International
Wesley Snipes stars in this action packed third person shooter.
Hollywood action star Wesley Snipes has thrilled moviegoers in films like Passenger 57, Money Train and Demolition Man. Now he's ready to bring his acting talents to Apple's iPhone and iPad in the upcoming action adventure game, Julius Styles: The International, set to blow up the App Store August 11.
Created by Finnish developer Lapland Studios, in collaboration with Elstree Studio Productions, Red 27 Films and Maandi Media Holdings, this intriguing title casts Snipes as the aforementioned Julius Styles, an economic hit man who specializes in persuasion, blackmail and assassination. Currently working for the Assembly, an elite group of businessmen interested in transferring global funs into their own pockets, Styles crisscrosses the globe putting his superior computer skills, sharp wit and brute force to the test in order to get the job done, infiltrating corporations, governments and other organizations to satisfy his employers.
"The concept for Julius Styles: The International is an amalgamation of the international spy, security specialist characters I've played in a couple of films," said Wesley Snipes. "Except unlike previous characters I've played, who often have military special ops, spy backgrounds, I needed a twist for him. Thus, Julius Styles was born."
As expected, things don't go according to plan. Despite his intellect, Styles makes costly miscalculations. He also has the feeling that someone's on his tail.
To that end, the game blends thrilling shootouts with more cerebral activities, such as computer hacking and picking locks. Played from an isometric perspective, but with 3D graphics, players will gather information, solve puzzles and combine a series of different objects to create new weapons and tools.
"What we have here is an incredible opportunity to take an international celebrity, whose film career is categorized by non-stop thrill rides, and turn it into an unbelievable iOS title," said Ilkka Immonen, CEO of Lapland Studios. "Working with Wesley Snipes is an amazing experience for all of us here. We are huge fans of his movies and lending us his talents for the game makes for an unbelievably exciting time at Lapland."
We agree. Hollywood normally comes out for console games. The fact that Snipes chose Apple's platform only shows how far the mobile industry has come.
That said, look for a review of Julius Styles: The International shortly following its release.
