Nintendo Sells Over 200,000 3DS Systems In One Week
The latest sales figures from Japan point to a 3DS resurgence.
What was that the critics said? Nintendo's finished? Smart phones have taken over the handheld scene?
After the news this morning, it appears those comments were woefully premature.
Turns out, Nintendo sold 207,000 3DS systems in Japan over the course of one week, August 8-14.
This incredible number is a direct result of the recent price drop.
We don't have official U.S. numbers, but it appears Nintendo is onto something, as the GameStops we called were either sold out of 3DS or had only one to three remaining.
This is obviously great news for the big N, which needed a sales boost amidst criticism from shareholders after the company's stock plummeted.
Now let's see if this momentum continues into the holidays. Based on the software lineup, millions of units may fly off shelves.
[Editor's Note: We're now seeing a revised 215,000 systems sold.]
