PlayStation Vita Boasts Strong Launch Lineup
Sony hopes to pull out all the stops next year.
Although it's a topic up for debate, Sony's consoles have never had triple A killer app launch games.
When PlayStation 2 debuted in 2000, EA Sports' SSX was the flagship title. Not bad by any means, but far from triple A.
PSP, meanwhile, featured a wide variety of games, but again, little stood out, aside from Ridge Racer and Lumines.
Then we had PlayStation 3. Resistance: Fall of Man offered a few hours of fun, but it doesn't rank amongst the greatest launch games of all time.
This brings us to PlayStation Vita, which will make its U.S. and European debut early next year.
LittleBigPlanet in time for Vita's launch? Yes please.
Sony knows it'll need to bring out the big guns to compete with Nintendo's 3DS and smart phones. Well, according to Sony Worldwide Studios Europe boss Michael Denny, the company will do just that.
Speaking at today's Sony press conference in Germany, Denny revealed that Vita's launch will be the most impressive in PlayStation history, with such titles as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Resistance: Burning Skies, LittleBigPlanet, Hot Shots Golf, Reality Fighters, Little Deviants and a newly announced puzzler called Escape Plan appearing alongside the system.
If that's the case, then Vita will indeed trump its predecessors, at least when it comes to launch games. Now it's just a matter of Sony delivering.
