Angry Birds Seasons: Moon Festival Review
Chinese tradition meets bird-flying destruction.
Angry Birds Seasons is without question one of the best value packed games on the App Store and Android Marketplace. Just when we think Rovio has run out of holidays, the developer releases a new update celebrating something we didn't even think about.
In fact, now the company's moved outside the U.S. to other countries, namely China, with the recently released and free Moon Festival update. The verdict? More bird flying, pig crushing goodness.
This new downloadable content celebrates the 3,000 year-old harvest festival, with an additional 30 levels, the option to send Moon Festival greeting cards to friends Via Facebook and Chinese inspired graphics, complete with pagodas, rabbits, red lanterns and various pieces of architecture, complimented by soothing music.
On top of that, the developers scattered eight pieces of moon cake through the update. Find them all, and you'll unlock a bonus stage.
As for the in-game action, it's the same Angry Birds you probably know and love. Each level tasks you with sling shooting birds with unique abilities towards crudely designed forts housing a bunch of annoying green pigs. Your goal is twofold: destroy the bothersome swine and cause tons of property damage to achieve a high score.
Succeed, especially with some birds left over, and you'll obtain one to three gold stars before moving to the next board.
Worth a download? Absolutely. The only issue we encountered involves Facebook, where we logged in and were unable to remove the pop-up from the screen, forcing a reboot.
Aside from that small complaint (and really, enough with the postcards), the Angry Birds Seasons: Moon Festival update delivers more of the same, and in this case, it's a good thing.
Final Score: 4 (out of 5)
