E3 2005: Nokia Expands N-Gage Platform
Smartphones to provide an enhanced mobile gaming experience
Nokia announced today its plans to expand N-Gage quality gaming onto the company's smartphones. The idea is to make it easier to search for, purchase, and play mobile games across a wide range of Nokia multimedia devices.
The next generation mobile gaming solution, as they're calling it, will provide enhanced 3D game graphics, user-friendly search features, and the ability to purchase and install high-quality video game titles with instant access to Nokia's global mobile gaming community. Because the solution is available on several different Nokia smartphones, consumers will be able to choose whichever device best suits their individual needs.
A smartphone which supports this new solution will allow users to gain access to their PC and manage their mobile game collection through an individual locker. Tracking purchases and reinstalling deleted games will also be available using this method.
The first smartphones to support this new solution are expected to arrive on the market sometime during the first half of 2006. Additional information on the title launch portfolio will be available in September 2005.
