Beat the clock in this futuristic and community driven racer.
Forever Drive is one of the few App Store games that by all accounts should not be free. The team at supermono limited did such an outstanding job this could have easily sold for $0.99. Not that we're complaining, mind you.
Here, the goal is to race against time, where you simply drive until the clock expires while enjoying a futuristic city bathed in neon.
What separates Forever Drive from the competition, though, is the track editor. Not only does it let you create your own tracks (and place buildings here and there), but also share them with the world. Then it pools everyone's tracks together to create one infinite stretch of road that changes each time you fire up the game.
It's a wonderful concept that works for the most part. Obviously, a game built around the creations of amateurs is only as good as everyone's imagination, but by and large, fans have done excellent work populating this title with fun designs.
To that end, the fact that everything runs so effortlessly is quite impressive, with no connection issues or glitches to speak of. You simply fire up the game and play.
The longer you do, the more you'll level up, eventually unlocking cars with better stats (speed, acceleration, grip, drift). You can even swap license plates or paint. Of course, as with most mobile games these days, you have the option of grinding things out or purchasing credits in denominations of 20 ($0.99), 100 ($2.99) or 2,000 ($25.99).
Sure, it's a bit mindless, but Forever Drive is a sweet ride that's perfect for short and satisfying play sessions whenever, wherever. Every iPhone and iPad owner should have it in his or her collection.
