A 3DS Without Super Mario 3D Land: Blasphemy
If you own or intend to buy a 3DS, you must pick up Mario's newest title. The video game gods command it.
Some things in life simply go together perfectly. In the video game world, this is especially true of a shiny new Nintendo system and Mario.
That said, we already know the company has sold over 6.68 million 3DS systems since launch, and with Super Mario 3D Land debuting November 13, we'd like to see 6.68 million people rush stores like brain starved zombies, frantically clawing at the glass doors until the worried employees reluctantly let them in.
Oh hi there, Mario? What? You want us to play your new 3DS game? OK.
Obviously, we don't expect that many 3DS owners to pick up Mario's latest romp through the Mushroom Kingdom, and that's a shame. Makes us wonder why these misguided souls purchased the machine in the first place.
No seriously, why did they buy one? To stream movies through Netflix? To blow up warships in Steel Diver? To tilt the device like crazy while playing Cubic Ninja?
Granted, the portable has a handful of must plays, including Star Fox 64 3D, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
At the same time, come on. If you picked up a 3DS for those games, especially Star Fox and Zelda, then you already have a soft spot for Nintendo. Odds are good (scratch that, excellent) that you also dig the antics of a certain mustachioed plumber.
That said, we refuse to look down on those who ignore Super Mario 3D Land. For all we know, you're one of these people.
On that note, and if you fall into this unique category of 3DS buyers, what gives? Why do you intend to leave this outstanding game on the shelf?
Don't worry. We don't bite.
