Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Seas- Wind Waker, Is That You?
Upcoming iPhone and iPad game bears a surprising resemblance to Nintendo's own The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. It's a good thing.
2003's GameCube hit, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, is one of Nintendo's more polarizing games. You either despise its cartoon style graphics, or praise the company for creating a timeless classic that continues to look sweet nearly ten years later.
We, thankfully, fall into the latter category, and it's safe to assume the talented designers at Cornfox & Bros. feel the same way. Thus, they've created a new iPhone and iPad adventure titled, Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Seas, a game with an obvious Wind Waker influence.
Consider the description:
Oceanhorn is an ancient sea monster that terrorizes the World of Uncharted Seas. The game puts you in the boots of a nameless hero who, in order to save his sister, must slay this monster for good. In this game, the world is open for exploration by foot or by boat, but beware, the sea monster can attack at any time and ill-prepared travelers will meet their early demise.
Granted, Nintendo didn't write the book on video game boats (there was JAWS on NES, after all), but this appears to be a cool homage to one of the greatest action RPGs of all time.
That said, Oceanhorn looks outstanding, with visuals that are among the best we've seen on iOS. Let's hope the game is worth our hard-earned cash when it ships...wait for it...when it's done.
