Video Game Franchises That Would Look Sweet On 3DS
All the futuristic racing, dog fighting and sword clanging we can handle.
As 3DS continues to pick up steam, more publishers and developers will bring classic franchises to the handheld. We've already seen quite a few, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Shinobi and Street Fighter, with Metal Gear and more Resident Evil on track for next year.
This also means experiencing some of our favorite series in glasses free 3D for the first time.
With this in mind, here are a few we'd most like to see.
We can only imagine what a new F-Zero would look like on that 3DS screen with the 3DS slider cranked all the way up. Hover cars speeding along at well over 250 miles per hour, miles of track unwinding before our eyes, special effects bursting from every corner...it sounds nauseatingly awesome.
Over the years, Sega has provided plenty of thrills with this classic arcade series, giving us a chance to steer a Ferrari through a variety of attractive locations with our virtual girlfriend riding shotgun.
That said, Outrun seems like an ideal candidate for a 3DS makeover, possibly giving fans another quality handheld racer to enjoy.
Sega yet again, this time with its machine gun spitting, missile firing combat franchise that thankfully received a new entry in the form of After Burner Climax in 2010, a fast-paced and brutal arcade experience that would make for a perfect fit on Nintendo's portable system.
With Street Fighter and Dead or Alive games readily available and a new Tekken on the way, Namco Bandai should create a Soul Calibur specifically designed for 3DS. The various weaponry (swords, staffs and nunchuks) would practically fly off the screen.
Jet Set/Grind Series
We're big fans of this Dreamcast classic and its Xbox sequel. In it, players guide a bunch of rambunctious and rollerblading teens through Japan, sticking it to the authorities and spray painting public property. The slick cell shaded graphics would shine on 3DS, particularly in the third dimension. Come on, Sega. Make it happen.
