Call of Duty: Zombies- A Perfect Fit For 3DS
With Circle Pad Pro coming to the U.S., Activision would be wise to bring undead blasting fun to Nintendo's handheld.
It's official. Nintendo's Circle Pad Pro will make its debut in the U.S. February 7, alongside Capcom's Resident Evil: Revelations. On top of that, the device will be compatible with Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater, whenever Konami chooses to release the game.
Great news all around, but let's face it, the peripheral will crash and burn unless Nintendo and various third parties support the plastic add-on, and we think Call of Duty would be a perfect fit.
Rather, Call of Duty: Zombies.
You're probably well acquainted with this mode, which first appeared in Call of Duty: World at War and then shambled onto Call of Duty: Black Ops. Up to four players attempt to hold down the fort by boarding up windows to repel a zombie invasion. If (more like when) the suckers breach the map, gamers unload on their foes using a variety of weapons, from simple pistols to shotguns and automatic rifles.
It's a great concept, one Activision even pulled off on the iPhone and iPad, more recently with Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies.
Thing is, that game only has one map, Kino Der Toten. Hard to justify spending six bucks on an app with so little content.
The 3DS edition would essentially be the end all, be all of Call of Duty Zombies. Activision could include several maps from both World at War and Black Ops, as well as the Dead-Ops Arcade mini-game that comes with that aforementioned iOS release.
On top of that, it would be fully compatible with Circle Pad Pro, and include multiplayer support for both online and local play.
Heck, if Activision feels generous, it could even throw online leaderboards and achievements in there. Somewhere.
Although we expect next fall's Call of Duty to debut on 3DS as well as consoles, having a separate Zombies game would give Activision another title to put on shelves in the middle of the year, to give players a taste of first person warfare.
More importantly, it would put Circle Pad Pro to excellent use.
