Nintendo Promotes Art History By Sending 5,000 3DS Systems To The Louvre
No, you cannot play Super Mario 3D Land during the tour.
We've never been to The Louvre, the famous French art museum, but Nintendo just gave us another reason to go.
Turns out, the publisher sent 5,000 3DS systems over there. The reason? The machines will include guided audio tours available in seven languages, as well as various itineraries.
Although the museum had control over this content, Nintendo was in charge of developing it.
Not a bad way to put the device in people's hands. Apparently, The Louvre receives roughly 8.5 million visitors each year. We're willing to bet most don't own a 3DS.
As for the program, expect to see the 3DS systems in March 2012.
