3DS Release Date Limbo
We're still awaiting dates for some of 2012's biggest games. Deliver the goods, Nintendo.
2012 is but a week and a half old, and we already know a bit more about the 3DS release date picture. In fact, Konami dropped a minor bombshell this afternoon with the announcement that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will debut February 21.
That said, plenty of the system's coolest titles remain in release date limbo. They could debut any time this year, which puts Nintendo in somewhat of an awkward position. The winter is just fine, with Resident Evil: Revelations (February 7), Kid Icarus: Uprising (March 23) and other games keeping everyone nice and warm, but what of the Spring? Summer? Nada.
With this in mind, the following big time games are in need of firm release dates sooner than later.
Luigi's Mansion 2
We ain't afraid of no ghosts. Just the opposite. We can't wait to get our hands on Luigi's Mansion 2. Just don't make us wait until Halloween, Nintendo.
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Square Enix brings this Kingdom Hearts 3 prequel to Japan in March. As for the U.S., we'll see it in 2012...sometime.
Paper Mario 3DS
Mario's newest adventure looks sweet, with cool 3D paper effects and a user-friendly battle system. 3DS needs more role-playing games, so we want this one ASAP.
Animal Crossing 3DS
After years of simply living in virtual towns, now we get a chance to run things. The concept of being mayor sounds intriguing. Hey, Nintendo, put this game in our hands.
Mario Tennis 3DS
Ah, Mario Tennis. We've logged countless hours with other games in the series, and the 3DS edition could be one of the best. This one has Spring written all over it.
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
Layton hit Japan February 26, 2011. Since then, we've been on the outside looking in, jealous of all those cool 3D puzzles the Japanese have enjoyed. Time to bring the good professor Stateside, perhaps Fall 2012.
