Limited Edition Systems: Stylish Or Gaudy?
Do you need ocarinas and mickey mouse heads adorning your 3DS, or does Flame Red work best?
Hardcore fans love exclusive systems for a variety of reasons. Most feature artwork from a favorite game and come in limited quantities. Just look at last year's Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary 3DS with golden harps and ocarinas. Sure beats plain old Cosmo Black.
Or does it? Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts 3D themed 3DS (available in Japan March 29) turned plenty of heads, but come on, does anyone really desire the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D snakeskin 3DS? Would you play with that thing in public?
Bottom line, solid colors never go out of style. Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red, Pearl Pink (OK, maybe not that one) are all worth buying.
These other handhelds, though, seem more like trophies, collectibles for diehard fanatics. You don't toss them into bags and risk scratching them up. No, you put them on a shelf and keep a cloth on hand at all times to wipe away fingerprints.
That said, which do you prefer? More traditional colors, or a system branded with elements from different games? Let us know.
