Jack Russell Terrier, Uggie, To Promote Nintendogs + Cats
Famous canine lends acting chops to Nintendo's portable pet sim.
It's quite unusual for a company to promote a game almost a year after its release. By now, the title in question has run its course, with copies sitting in bargain bins from Maine to California.
That said, Nintendo decided to give the 3DS launch game, Nintendogs + Cats, another chance at superstardom, and the publisher enlisted the help of Hollywood A-lister Uggie, a Jack Russel terrier that starred in Water For Elephants and more recently, the Oscar nominated flick, The Artist.
"Uggie didn't have to sit up and beg for his role as Nintendo's spokesdog," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "It's truly our pleasure to work with a star of Uggie's magnitude, especially to help animal lovers and portable gaming fans discover the fun of nintendogs + cats."
Uggie will serve as the game's "spokesdog", showing users how to care for these virtual critters while also highlighting the features of the Pearl Pink 3DS.
Turns out, this wasn't as random as we thought. February is Responsible Pet Owners Month.
