Infinity Blade: Dungeons Takes Franchise In New Direction
Looks a heck of a lot like Diablo, by no means a bad thing.
Epic Games and Chair Entertainment have more Infinity Blade on the way, but don't expect the same experience found in the previous two adventures. Infinity Blade: Dungeons is a separate beast, a game that exchanges the tried and true mechanics found in the prequels for a more Diablo like experience.
Revealed earlier today during Apple's iPad 3 keynote, the game takes place several thousands years before events in the previous games. You play as an apprentice weaponsmith, charged with forging the Infinity Blade and slaughtering tons of monsters along the way within a more free roaming environment.
"Just like Apple has raised the bar for mobile computing, the Infinity Blade franchise has continually re-defined expectations for mobile gaming," said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps. "With Infinity Blade: Dungeons we continue the tradition of melding exciting gameplay with beautiful, rich worlds powered by Unreal Engine technology; and Apple's new iPad allows us to push the boundaries even further."
We're big fans of the original titles, and look forward to seeing more of this one. Watch the trailer and let us know what you think.
