Fruit Ninja Receives Juicy Update May 24
Stock up on starfruit, use new power-ups and purchase items from Gutsu's Cart.
Mobile developer Halfbrick has spent the past several months hyping Jetpack Joyride, but that doesn't mean the studio has forgotten about Fruit Ninja, the game that put it on the proverbial map. In fact, the company plans to roll out a huge update for the game this Thursday, and based on what we've heard, it'll breathe new life into the two-year-old smash hit.
First up is Gutsu and Truffles, brand new characters in the Fruit Ninja universe (watch their debut below). Why are they significant? Each time you play the game, you'll earn Starfruit that functions as in-game currency, used to purchase three new items from Gutsu.
First up, Bomb Deflects that do exactly that. Tired of those pesky explosives getting in the way? Just use one of these suckers to continue slicing without frustration.
Next, we have Berry Blasts, an explosive super fruit that apparently creates quite a mess; not exactly sure how this impacts the game. Last, but not least, there's Peachy Time, which adds precious seconds to the clocks in Arcade and Zen modes.
It's been a while since we've fired up Fruit Ninja, but with this update, it may become a must play yet again. We'll post impressions of the DLC later this week.
