Centipede: Origins Infests iOS And Android June 21
Nasty bugs should know better than to come between a gnome and its garden.
Games like Centipede helped make Atari a household name in the 80s. While not as popular these days, the company continues to hold onto its legacy with reboots, the newest being Centipede: Origins, which debuts on iOS and Android devices June 21.
Inspired by the 1981 arcade title, this mobile edition casts players as gnomes out to protect their garden from a bunch of slimy insects. To that end, they'll fight off the bug hordes with three upgradeable weapons, including grenades and rapid fire. In addition, the game comes with three equally upgradeable gadgets, such as the Fly Trap and Time Warp. Levels, meanwhile, come with names like Bumpkinpatch Gardens, Bumpkinpatch Aerial, Tarpit Excavation and Valley of Flowers.
From what we've heard, in-app purchases factor heavily in the game, with players acquiring more coins. There are few images and no videos just yet, but we plan to review Centipede: Origins later this week.
