Hasta la Muerte Creeps Onto iOS July 5
Play as an emissary of Death in this bizarre-looking platformer from BulkyPix. Don't worry, it's like Pac-Man...kind of.
Now for something different. BulkyPix partnered with Pohlm Studio to bring Hasta la Muerte to iPhone and iPad July 5.
What is Hasta la Muerte? A weird platformer that casts you as an emissary of Death, charged with saving people's souls from eternal damnation. Screw up, and the souls apparently chase you back to Limbo, or something to that effect. We hear it's sort of like Pac-Man, which only makes this title even stranger.
There's more. During this journey, you'll run into Soulpets that imbue the character with abilities like speed, stealth and protection, among others. You'll need them for 100 percent completion, as utilizing these power-ups lets you return to previously completed levels in search of hidden treasures and bonuses.
With over 30 levels, leaderboards and things called the Meca-Angel and the Cyclop, Hasta la Muerte should have no trouble standing apart from the rest of the App Store crowd when it debuts next month. Check out the screens and attempt to figure out how this one plays. Quite frankly, it looks quirky, and that's why we're intrigued.
