Rare Developing for DS
Are Classic N64 Ports in the Works?
Although no longer being a second party to the company, England-based Rareware has developed several games for Nintendo's handheld platform, Game Boy Advance, following their purchase by Microsoft several years ago. It seems Rare is planning on continuing their handheld development by creating titles for the Nintendo DS.
On the company's website, a job position is posted for "Game Programmers (Nintendo DS)," which indicates Rare has some desire to eventually develop titles for the dual-screen handheld.
Following their successful titles on the Super Nintendo, Rare developed many high-profile games for the N64 including: Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Blast Corps, and Jet Force Gemini among others. Given the similar power between the two machines, it may be possible we'll see such titles on the Nintendo DS, or perhaps entirely new games.
