IronMonkey And Firemint Become Firemonkeys
With their powers combined...
Electronic Arts was apparently in the mood for some good old fashioned consolidation. That said, it took two of its Australian mobile development studios, IronMonkey (Dead Space, Mass Effect Infiltrator) and Firemint (Real Racing), and merged the companies into Firemonkeys.
"Both of these studios have produced award-winning games and we believe combining the incredible talent pool in Melbourne, as well as leveraging the EA brand, sets us up for further success in the mobile arena," adds Tony Lay, GM of IronMonkey.
All things considered, this new studio has quite the mobile pedigree. Between the two developers, there are 85 million downloads across iOS and Android, over 50 awards and a review average of four out of five, if you consider all games. Not bad at all.
With this in mind, expect new game announcements later this year.
