The Simpsons: Tapped Out Set To Make iOS Return
Following a disastrous launch, EA Mobile is ready to bring Homer and the gang back to iPhone and iPad.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out, released earlier this year, was a free-to-play disaster. Not only was EA Mobile ill-equipped to deal with the game's high demand, but users complained of so many bugs the publisher was forced to yank its freemium title from the App Store. That said, we assumed that the game was kicked into the fiery pits of fail.
Oh, how wrong we were. Turns out, EA Mobile had literally gone back to the drawing board, and now, The Simpsons: Tapped Out is once again ready for prime time, complete with Retina display support for the new iPad, along with multitasking functionality that gives players the option to quickly switch in and out of the game.
In case you missed this title completely, you rebuild Springfield from the ground up following an accidental power plant meltdown caused by you know who, Homer. You'll purchase buildings, run into iconic characters and view exclusive animated clips.
Although it's great to have the game back, it is several months old, and we question whether it'll be able to hang with the best of freemium.
[Editor's Note: In a press release, EA says the game is available now, but we don't see it yet.]
