Curiosity Name Change Prompted By Search Results
Not a NASA request, but a need to satisfy Google.
We've known Peter Molyneux's first 22 Cans experiment as Curiosity since its first unveiling, but alas it looks as though a new name is required in the face of NASA's immensely popular Mars exploration robot.
According to Molyneux's Twitter feed, the team are seeking suggestions for a new title for the game which tasks gamers with chipping through a giant cube comprised of 64 billion miniature cubes. One lucky miner will uncover the object that lies at the very center, a reward which Molyneux has described as life-changing.
Twitter pundits were quick to ask whether this change had been forced upon developer 22 Cans by the space agency, so we got in touch with Peter this afternoon to clarify the circumstances surrounding the name change. Here's what he had to say to us on the subject:
"The name change is prompted by the need to have something simple to search for in Google. This worked well for 'Curiosity' but since NASA: Curiosity is now obviously generating a lot of interest we need to change the name."
No conspiracy theories here then. So, what do you think the new title should be ?
