One Tap Hero Cheats And Tips
Navigate even the game's toughest levels with our handy guide.
We've been blown away by Coconut Island's One Tap Hero, the refreshingly challenging iOS platform game. It's got everything we love on mobiles: fantastic and varied gameplay, charming characters, and ingenious platform level design.
We've been playing it non-stop since we published our review yesterday, so here's all the information you need to get on top of this wonderful platform puzzler.
What are the keys for?
Notice those keys that appear in certain levels? Be sure to make a special effort to pick them up, as they're used to unlock bonus levels that are available in each chapter.
As deadly to you as they are to your enemies. Make very sure that whenever you unleash one onto the playing field, you have an extra strategy to deal with them rolling back on you. If nothing else, you can jump up as they approach and clamber on top of them. Handy!
Timing is everything
Those little ledges that sometimes appear and stop you in your tracks? Consider those a giant flashing neon warning sign that there's trouble ahead. Take time to plan your next move. They often precede a rotating platform edge, and we're afraid you're going to have to rely on trial-and-error to make your move at the right moment here.
What are the stars for?
Apart from adding a cosmetic change to the object of your affections, you only need to worry about grabbing these for prestige. There are three to be grabbed on each level and if you want the lot, you're going to need to break the level down into interconnecting sections.
Note that if a level is really grinding you down, and you've earned enough stars from previous levels, you can still unlock the next chapter without grabbing every last one. If you don't have enough, go back and maximize your rewards from the easier, earlier levels.
What are the gold bricks?
Very simply these are a massive chunk of change for the bank. They're usually very well guarded, but it's always worth making an effort to grab them if you can do so without undoing all of your other good work on the level.
How do I deal with enemies?
The only way to take those angry ninjas down is to lure them into traps. Be very careful with your timing when pulling levers, as opening up the path ahead at the wrong time can instead result in you being attacked.
They'll only charge at you when you get within a certain distance of them too, so don't get any closer to them than you have to.
Hang on to traveling ledges
It's an extremely fiddly trick to pull off but you can hang off the edges of travelling platforms as well as stand on them. Your timing will need to be absolutely perfect but this is a great way to use platforms that pass dangerously close to spiky ceilings.
Take your time
Whenever you tackle a level for the first time, don't rush straight in. If you leave your screen idle for a few seconds, you'll be given a very helpful fly-through of the challenge to help you plan ahead. You'll also receive a hint on the most prominent danger to be found on the level.
If at first you don't succeed
We lost track of the number of times we were convinced we were on the right track to a solution, only to find a much better route doing something altogether different. Do experiment with different timings and uses of levers. Sometimes the solution is hidden in plain sight!
What can I spend my money on?
There are two types of items up for grabs in the game's store: new costumes for your loveable character, or more of those keys that can be used to unlock bonus levels. All of these can be purchased with the game's gold currency, although if you're running short....
Ah yes, the real-money cash shop. If you're out of cash and want to get ahead of the game, you can pick up a nuke that'll clear the level for you and reward the maximum 3 stars, or just pick up some gold so you can get some new costumers and keys.
