Wipeout Cheats And Tips
Skilled platform gaming fans may have met their match with Wipeout, the iPhone and iPad iteration of the hit ABC TV show. This title contains a variety of challenging obstacle courses chock full of hazards, from the terrifying Topple Towers to the intimidating Big Balls. It's the type of game where accidents can and will happen, as your virtual character trips, bounces and gets knocked into the water. With this in mind, and to prevent you from succumbing to failure, we put together this Wipeout cheats and tips guide. Good luck.
Buy More Ballsy Bucks
Ballsy Bucks come in handy for unlocking new characters and helmets. They're also a pain in the butt to earn by playing Wipeout. If you're running low, just head to Ballsy's Wipeout Store and stock up.
20 Ballsy Bucks: $1.99
60 Ballsy Bucks: $4.99
150 Ballsy Bucks: $9.99
Earn Twice as many Coins for the Style Points you score: $2.99
Always Shoot For First Place
Sure, coming in second or third is respectable, but you won't earn nearly as many Smallsy Coins. Consider the KO Corral obstacle courses. First place is 3,000 Coins, second is 1,000 and third is 500. That's a big difference.
This also applies to Time Trial, where instead of coming in first, you want to earn three stars to score Ballsy Bucks.
Consider Wearing Helmets
To be fair, you don't need headgear to master Wipeout's obstacle courses, but there's no denying the fact that power-up helmets give you an edge. From the Eagle Helmet that makes you jump higher, to the Lightning Helmet that imbues your character with super speed, helmets will help you shave precious seconds off your best course times. Also remember that you can upgrade each helmet up to three times.
Unlock New Characters
If helmets don't suit you, consider unlocking new characters, some of which are clearly better than others. Case in point, the small yet quick Helen Womack, and the all-around athlete, Aaron Robbins.
Save Smallsy Coins For New Course Packs
Bottom line, you don't need a super charged helmet or the most expensive character to dominate Wipeout. On that note, consider stockpiling Smallsy Coins to unlock the priciest courses, namely Strikeout (15,000) and Old MacBallsy (30,000). Otherwise, you'll continue to replay the same courses again and again.
Make Note Of The Target Time
During a run, the developers list the time you must beat on the top left corner of the screen. Keep this in mind, since the last thing you need is to miss the target. As we said, always shoot for first place.
It's OK To Wipeout
In a perfect world, everyone knows the obstacle courses inside and out right off the bat. Unfortunately, you'll receive a hefty dose of reality within seconds of playing Wipeout, as your character falls into the water and gets crushed by gigantic objects. Thankfully, you can always restart, and messing up gives you the opportunity to learn each course.
You Receive Style Points For Just About Everything
Wipeout awards you with Style Points for succeeding and screwing up. After completing the course, these points get converted into coins, so it's in your best interest to amass as many as possible during a run.
Never Hit The Retry Button After Losing
Doing this will cost you Smallsy Coins. Instead, quit to the main menu.
