Marvel Legend Stan Lee's Verticus Free Falling To iOS
Earth is in peril. An evil race of aliens known as the Obliterators have tunneled their way to the planet's core and planted a Cosmic Fuse, a doomsday device that'll exterminate mankind. Our hero, a man wearing a high-tech and heat-resistant jumpsuit, must take the fight to these diabolical E.T.s head-on by free-falling into those tunnels. Emerge victorious, and humans live another day. Fail, and well...you know.
Therein lies the foundation for Verticus, the upcoming iPhone and iPad game from superhero icon Stan Lee, publisher Moonshark and developer Controlled Chaos. Set to debut this fall, the ambitious title fuses endless gameplay with a comic book presentation to deliver an experience never-before-seen on iOS. Gameplay, from what we can tell, involves soaring through the sky and then deep beneath the Earth's crust, where players collect coins to upgrade the suit and battle enemies while trying to dismantle the Cosmic Fuse; Moonshark refers to the game as an endless faller. It as designed to be both a casual and hardcore experience, so players can sit down for 30 minutes or 30 seconds to get their fix.
As you can see by the trailer, Verticus provides fast-paced aerial combat. Graphics, powered by Unity, appear impressive thus far, complete with a speedy frame rate.
Unfortunately, we've yet to get our hands on this game, but with a fall release, that should happen in the near future.
