Sonic Jump Cheats And Tips

Get to even greater heights with our guide.

As we noted in our review last week, Sonic Jump does a great job of capturing the Sonic magic in a vertical runner, and it's also a great bit of fan-service to the Sega faithful. Here's our hints and tips for how to get ahead in the game.

How do I play as a different character?

The ability to unlock new characters is tied to your overall progression in the game. As you level up, you'll be able to play as Tails at level 17, and Knuckles at level 20. You can equip your brand-new look by heading to the store section of the game, then clicking on Characters.

Why was I killed by a creature?

If you want to avoid losing all your rings, you need to smash into enemies from below, while Sonic is still spinning. We probably don't need to tell you this but the rings you've gathered protect you from one hit. After that, Sonic's toast if he hits spikes or enemies before he's gathered at least one more ring.

How can I begin at a later point in a level?

If you go to the upgrade store and grab a Blast Off, this will give you a boost early on so you can get right into the thick of the action again.

How can I resurrect in Sonic Jump?

If you've equipped a Bounce Back from the shop, this will save you from one disastrous jump. Note that these expire after use, so if you need one for the next run you'll have to go shopping again.

What's the difference between the Story and Arcade modes?

All of the levels in the Story mode are fixed and unchanging, so you can work through them safe in the knowledge that any restarts will be familiar. The Arcade mode is there for you to take part in an endless version of the game where the goal is simply to reach as high up in the sky as you can!

How do I reach the higher platforms?

The game doesn't do a great job of explaining this but if you simply can't reach the height of the only available platform, tap the screen twice to do a double-jump and get some extra air.

How do I get a maximum rating at a level?

Spread through each level of the Story mode are three red cogs. You need to grab all three to get a perfect rating on a level, but they're usually placed in extremely tricky-to-reach places.
